| Band singers started out as fill-ins for the big bands. They would join the band, sing a chorus and then sit down. During the 40's the musicians union staged a strike and the only performers available were vocalists. Since then the vocalists have taken center stage and the bands now became back ups for the singers. Some of the great Diva's of those days were: |
