The "Gibson Girl" was the 1st American glamour girl and was created in the "Gay Nineties". She was the embodiment of the all american girl spirit, grace and style. Every girl wanted to look like her and every boy wanted to marry someone like her. Her hair was rolled front and tendrils carefully placed for that sexy but innocent look. She had a perfect figure and went to tea parties, played tennis, and croquet and even rode a bicycle.
The model was Irene Gibson and her husband Charles Gibson was the artist who drew her. She was also the inspiration for many drawings and cartoons then.
